When decorating your kid’s room, focused conversation-inducing questions about their interests may help shape the room’s design direction. If they love boats, seashore, and everything nautical, a totally awesome boat bed may be the perfect place to start the design.
There are so many different boat shaped beds on the market ranging from rustic to classic to kiddie theme. Basic bed shape doesn’t change (always includes a stern and a bow) but style does change and it’s the details that make the difference.
If he just wants a simple boat…..”a small vessel propelled on water by oars, sails, or an engine”, a rowboat may be all you need to satisfy the desire. No frills.
If he’s thinking high seas, a ship…..”a vessel larger than a boat for transporting people or goods by sea” may be what’s needed. Sails, ship’s wheels, and anchors add detail any captain would love in a totally awesome boat bed.
Look at these to see what I mean…..

Pirate ship bed complete with spinning ship’s wheel, anchors, and crow’s nest on the mast for hours of adventure.

Painted stripe on the side and finished wood detail on the bow for a bay or river boat for the avid water skier.
The bed will be a dramatic focal point in the room……no need to have every piece of furniture look nautical. Plus if you limit nautical items to accessories, only the bed and accessories need replaced to change the room design.
So, when your kids’ ask for a boat shaped bed, go ahead and let them sail away!

Wow, this is what I was looking for. However, can you provide some sources for the beds? I’m really interested in the boys and girls similar-looking beds. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for asking!! Source links for each photo had disappeared….now fixed. The bed with blue striped comforter is from Pottery Barn Kids. Girl’s bed is sourced as DBD.
