Scandinavian Design = Less is More
My first introduction to Scandinavian design was as a teen in college. One of the textbooks for my contemporary furnishings class was all Scandinavian furniture. First time I flipped through the book, I fell in love with the simple sophistication.
I had grown up in the USA’s deep South surrounded by traditional furniture. The warmth of well-worn patina and time-honored design was in my blood, but design school was time to explore.
To get a feel for Scandinavian design I learned to love, scroll through the 30 Scandinavian Home Desks that Encourage Work Creativity compiled by Freshome. Many of these can be used in for a teen’s home study center.
While traditional design still takes me back to my roots when I see it, Scandinavian design takes me back to my freshman year in college. Oh the memories……
